Pledge Update

The OCS Europe Pledge has been discontinued

We would like to inform you of an important change concerning the OCS Europe pledge system.

Since its launch, the pledge has brought together more than 3,000 signatories, each committing to reduce pellet loss emissions and to implement measures to prevent, mitigate and clean up losses across their operations. This collective commitment has been a defining achievement for our industry and a clear demonstration of what voluntary action can accomplish.

With the entry into force of the Pellet Loss Regulation, the accountability that signatories voluntarily embraced through the pledge has now become a legal requirement for operators handling plastic pellets. The objectives that the pledge was created to advance are therefore now anchored in EU law. In light of this, OCS Europe has decided to bring the pledge system to a close, as its original purpose has effectively been fulfilled.

This is not an end to our shared work, but a transition to its next stage. The OCS Europe Certification Scheme is currently being updated to align fully with the requirements of the Pellet Loss Regulation. Once finalised, it will offer signatories and other operators a structured, credible route to demonstrate compliance and good practice, with certification expected to become available in 2027.

We will share further details on the updated scheme and the steps to participate in due course.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support of and commitment to the OCS Europe pledge over the years. Your engagement has been instrumental in advancing pellet loss prevention across Europe, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you through the Certification Scheme.
